In March, 2011 the Griffing Crocheters were introduced to a new pattern for a Stained Glass Afghan. The pattern was originally created for knitting and shown on the Knit and Crochet Now PBS series. Instructor Amy Werba converted the pattern for crocheting and purchased Simply Soft by Caron yarn in a variety of colors suitable to look like stained glass.
The students were given copies of the crochet pattern. After a short struggle to get the points of the diamonds started, they were off and crocheting.
Plans are to complete this afghan before the end of 2011 for donation to a local women's shelter.
